How this page works
1. Feed & Grazing — grazing rows appear when you hit "Finish Grazing" on a field in Locations; feed purchases entered manually.
2. Medicine Costs — auto-populated from Medicine Cabinet stock + treatment log.
3. Sales Income — fed from Markets tab when EIDs return from buyers (per-animal margin).
4. Rent & Overheads — fixed costs like land rent, shearing, fencing, vet call-outs.
5. Per-Flock P&L — auto-calculated: every cost and income split per flock, per sheep, per day.
6. No hard year-end — costs roll continuously. As sheep die or sell, cost-per-head recalculates from that day forward.
7. Faded examples shown on empty state, disappear as real data arrives.

🔗 Connect a Bluetooth Wand

Good news: Android is the simplest setup. Most modern wands can act as a Bluetooth keyboard — pair once and the EIDs type straight into Glendale.
Option A — Wand in HID mode (easiest, zero apps)
Check your wand has an HID or Keyboard / BLE-KB mode (most modern Allflex, Datamars, Shearwell, Tru-Test do)
Switch the wand to HID mode (button combo or app — check the manual)
On the tablet: Settings → Bluetooth → Pair new device
Pick the wand from the list (e.g. RFID-Reader, HRH4, model number)
Open Glendale in Chrome / Firefox
Go to the 📡 Scanner tab and tap the gold scan box
Pull the wand trigger — EID appears in the box and gets logged
Tip: The on-screen keyboard may pop up over the scan box. That's fine — the wand still types underneath. Press the back button on the tablet to hide the keyboard if needed.
Option B — Wand is SPP-only (needs one free app)
If your wand only speaks Serial Port Profile (SPP) — like the one we tested with Serial Bluetooth Terminal — install a small bridging app:
Pair the wand in Android Bluetooth settings as normal
Open the app, pick the wand, enable "Auto-type to focused field" (or similar)
Switch to Glendale, tap the gold scan box, scan
Don't lose Glendale on the network
The tablet must be able to reach the Pi running Glendale:
Same Wi-Fi as the Pi → use http://192.168.0.134:5000
Away from home → use Tailscale (if installed) → http://100.117.191.45:5000
Troubleshooting
Wand pairs but nothing types: wand is in SPP mode — switch to HID, or use Option B
Tablet keeps disconnecting: turn off battery optimisation for Bluetooth in Android settings
Numbers go to wrong field: tap the gold scan box just before each scan session
Page won't load: tablet not on home Wi-Fi — see the "Don't lose Glendale" section above
The status pill above won't go green on Android. That's normal — the green indicator only works on the Windows laptop where the helper script runs. On Android, just trust that scans appearing in the table means it's working.
Browsers can't read classic Bluetooth wands directly. A small PowerShell helper on the laptop listens to the wand and types EIDs into Glendale.
Step 1 — Pair the wand
Put the wand in pairing mode (hold power until LED flashes)
Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Add device → Bluetooth
Pick the wand from the list (PIN usually 0000 or 1234)
You should see "Status server: http://localhost:9876" and "Wand bridge on COM4". Leave that window open.
Step 3 — Scan
The big icon above should turn green ✓
Click the gold scan box, pull the wand trigger
EIDs appear with VID, Flock, Type auto-filled
Troubleshooting
Stays red: helper isn't running — open PowerShell and re-run Step 2
Wand on COM3 not COM4: edit the script and change the port
Keys go to wrong window: click the gold scan box first
